Case Studies – Part 1

Unit 6
Case Studies
The urban park Parque Urbano Ofir (Portugal): A number of features have been designed to encourage community participation in physical activity, including footpaths, multi-purpose playing fields, football and rugby fields, and a pedestrian bridge to a nearby neighborhood. The park is strategically located and the creation of different types of public and recreational spaces is intended to benefit a wide and diverse range of the city’s population.

It is worth noting that the availability and quality of a community’s public space is one of the factors that contributes to a strong identity and attachment to that city (Bremen, for example, sets the stage for the enjoyment of public space by emphasizing the social dimension through the development of meeting and activity spaces).
